ROV Training

Divetech Ltd have been operating ROV’s since 1993 and offer private ROV training to clients such as hydro engineers, aquaculture operators, search and rescue dive teams. We have completed training in Canada, USA as well as in the United Kingdom. Basic ROV training aimed at new ROV operators consists of a 5-day course which covers the following subjects.

 

Course Outline

Course Fee $3000 per person, minimum of 3 people required to run a course

DAY 1

CLASSROOM

  • Course introduction, explain course objectives
  • Introduction to ROV & sonar systems
  • Safe use of electricity in air and water
  • Introduction to the Seamor and Blue Robotics ROV systems
  • Carry out practical setup of both ROV systems

DAY 2

WATER DAY

  • Prepare the ROV system and associated equipment for diving
  • Pre dive checks
  • Tether management
  • Manipulators and ancillary equipment
  • Post dive equipment checks
  • ROV system maintenance

DAY 3

WATER DAY

  • Survey methods using the ROV and sonar
  • ROV emergency recovery procedures
  • Practical piloting skills development

DAY 4

WATER DAY

  • Video recording systems
  • Annotation and video commentary
  • ROV dive log keeping

DAY 5

CLASSROOM

  • Object recovery exercise using ROV manipulator
  • Inspection report writing and presentation
  • ROV system storage preparation

Sidescan Sonar training

Course Aims and Objectives

This introductory course will provide an insight into the equipment, survey strategies, processing and interpretation of side scan sonar data.

DAY 1

  • During the course, students will learn how to plan and execute a side scan sonar survey.
  • They will gain practical experience processing and interpreting the resulting images Practical exercises will take place during the afternoon on both days and will include survey mobilisation, demobilisation, GPS positioning, data collection, data processing and reporting.
  • During the two-day course students will be introduced to: Introduction to site types, targets and anomalies – which sites are best suited to side scan surveys
  • Designing a side scan sonar survey project: considerations and survey strategies
  • Types of side scan mounts and devices Positioning: locating your sites

DAY 2

  • Practical completing a side scan survey Overview of other survey data processing packages
  • Reporting and dissemination
  • Learning Outcomes Participants will complete the course with an understanding of the principles and practice of side scan sonar surveys
  • Students will be able to identify the most suitable equipment and survey strategy appropriate to specific site types and conditions
  • Students will have participated in the design and execution of a small side scan sonar survey
  • Students will have undertaken some basic data processing

Drone Operator Training

THE ESSENTIALS

Learn how to safely operate your drone with this basic pilot training course. This hands-on practical course teaches operation of the sub 250-gram DJI Mavic mini drone, as well as the DJI Fly app.

Course Fee $150 per person.
